Our Principles for Change

At The Invisible Backpack, we believe that small actions can lead to big transformations. By fostering open conversations and building emotional resilience we’re working toward a world where people no longer carry their struggles alone.

If I can inspire just one person to keep going, to feel seen and supported, then I’ve done my job.

Helping 1% of the World

Our goal is to reach 1% of the world 80 million people who will feel seen supported and strong. That’s 80 million women, men and children who will have tools to navigate emotional struggles together.

Together, we can help lift invisible burdens and create a world where everyone knows they are not alone.

Meet William Hartwick

William Hartwick knows what it means to carry invisible traumas. Growing up with Tourette Syndrome and Bipolar Disorder, he faced challenges that often left him feeling isolated and misunderstood. But through these struggles, he discovered the power of resilience and connection.

As an educator and advocate, William has spent his life helping others navigate the same feelings he experienced as a child. He’s seen how a little courage support can transform a child’s world—how courage and belonging can replace fear and loneliness.

Through this movement, William is turning his own challenges into a mission to movement. The Invisible Backpack is his way of giving back.
